Lawn Aeration
Overtime, the lawn soil becomes compacted, and hard, so air, water and nutrients are not readily available to the lawn grass roots.
The grass gradually begins to starve, loosing its healthy appearance.
A minimal aeration schedule would be to aerate once per year, but for a well maintained lawn, lawn aeration should be performed twice per year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall.
Our Lawn Aeration service will cut cylindrical soil cores from the ground, loosening the soil and creating openings in the lawn surface.
Air, water and nutrients will be readily available to be absorbed by the grass roots, the soil becomes softer making it easier for the grass roots to grow and spread, resulting in a healthier, more vibrant looking lawn.
Watering is much more efficient when the lawn has been aerated because aeration opens little holes in the lawn surface which allow water to go right into the soil instead of running off the lawn or staying on top and evaporating.
Lawn De-thatching
Overtime, a layer of dead grass roots, stems and debris builds up on the top layer of the lawn soil.
This layer of thatch, provides a hiding place for insects. And it prevents water and nutrients from getting below the soil surface.
Thatch covers the soil surface so grass can not dense up, spread and propagate freely. And it prevents seeds from making good contact with the soil, resulting in poor seed germination.
The grass growth is uneven and the lawn looks sparse, acquiring an unhealthy appearance.
Lawn De-thatching should be performed when needed, based on your particular grass growth behaviour, generally once every 2 years.
Our Lawn De-thatching service scarifies and rakes up the top layer of your lawn soil, exposing the soil surface previously covered by roots and debris.
De-thatching will create room for water and nutrients to get under the soil surface. And it will create soil surface room for new grass to grow, spread and dense up, resulting in a healthier, denser looking lawn.
When de-thatching, a significant amount of thatch will be raked up from the lawn.
The Lawn De-thatching service includes de-thatching the lawn, and then extensive raking to pick up and bag all the debris coming out.
